Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know before hitting record.

Is Easy Screen Capture really free?

Yes. Easy Screen Capture is completely free — no account, no signup, no watermarks, and no recording time limits imposed by the app.

Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser using standard web APIs. Your recordings are saved directly to your device and never touch a server.

Which browsers are supported?

Easy Screen Capture works best in Chromium-based browsers like Chrome and Edge. Firefox and Safari have partial support — screen capture works, but features like system audio may be unavailable.

What format are recordings saved in?

You can choose the format before recording. WebM (VP9/VP8 + Opus) is available everywhere and gives the best quality; MP4 (H.264) is also offered in browsers that support recording to it — recent Chrome, Edge, and Safari — and plays in virtually every video player and editor.

Can I record my webcam and screen at the same time?

Yes. Enable the webcam option and your camera is composited into the recording as a picture-in-picture overlay in the bottom-right corner.

Can I capture system audio?

Yes, in Chromium-based browsers. Enable the System Audio option and choose "Share audio" when selecting the screen or tab you want to record.
